My cat licked Neosporin and is drooling. Is the medicine toxic?

While I think it is probably a reaction to the medication I don't necessarily think that it is a 'bad' reaction. Some cats react to the flavor of antibiotics or become stressed when the medication is administered which leads to drooling. This antibiotic could also cause nausea, but if Dusky isn't vomiting the drooling probably isn't related to nausea. You could try giving the antibiotic right after a meal to hopefully minimize any chance of nausea.

The medication may have a bitter taste. When cats get something in their mouth that they don't want or like, they will drool profusely and foam at the mouth. If she will allow, rinse her mouth with cool water for 10-15 minutes. This may decrease drooling. Try mixing the medication into a bit of food and offering it. Once she eats it, you can feed the remainder of the meal. This may be enough to mask any bad taste.

Pramoxine (the pain reliever in Neosporine plus) is a topical anesthetic. It is unlikely that it will hurt your kitty if you only put a little of the cream on. I would wipe off the rest. It is never a good idea to use medications for humans on cats or dogs, as many of them are toxic, especially for cats. Also Neomycin (one of the antibiotics in the ointment you used) can cause severe allergic reactions, making the lesion on which you put it , worse. Your vet should examine the irritation on her neck, unless you know its cause. Often cats with food allergies start scratching their neck and head excessively causing them to hurt themselves.

Feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the drooling continues on the bland diet, he refuses to eat the bland diet, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Licking off a small amount of neosporin should not harm Theo. If he continues to lick/chew his paws you may want to take him to the vet to be assessed for allergies. Licking/chewing the feet is a common sign of a dog having an environmental allergy (like to dust, grasses and pollens). I hope this helps. Sometimes a topical treatment can cause a bad reaction, but in this case it's not likely to be dangerous for Milo, you have washed it already which is the most important thing to do, try to see if he settles down in the next couple hours, if it doesn't get any better then take him to the vet, but I don't think it will be necessary.
