My cat got pain relief Neosporin. Should I take her to the vet?

This lesion could be a result of a skin infection, ringworm, mange, flea allergy, among others. While you can use Neosporin, I do not typically find it to be overly effective for most wounds on pets. Also be sure that M is receiving a high quality flea preventative, such as Advantage, Bravecto, or Revolution regularly. Neosporin is safe to use, however I don't know how much it will help. It doesn't have any anti-inflammatory properties and the skin looks severely inflamed. You might consider an animal-specific hydrocortisone cream or ointment, as this may be more soothing. Placing loose bandages might also provide comfort as she is trying to walk also.

I would not recommend applying neosporin without the direct prescription from your vet. Cats are prone to grooming and ingesting ointments and can have significant side effects. Antibiotic dreams will not improve healing in healthy wounds and should not be used unless the wound has an infection, in which case oral or injectable medications are usually preferred

Sometimes a topical treatment can cause a bad reaction, but in this case it's not likely to be dangerous for Milo, you have washed it already which is the most important thing to do, try to see if he settles down in the next couple hours, if it doesn't get any better then take him to the vet, but I don't think it will be necessary.

Poor Alvin. You can put some coconut oil on it or even the neosporin that has “pain relief” in it. My biggest concern though is that if the burn is bad that it can be really painful and he may need a prescription pain medicine. Burns are also prone to beocoming really infected and even causing a systemic infection. I would have your vet take a look at it to see if he needs some oral antibiotics and oral pain meds. Poor guy. You can try a very small amount of Neosporin on this wound and clean it daily with sterile saline. However, if it doesn't heal well then a trip to your vet for antibiotics is needed. Without seeing Forrest in person, I can't say for certain what these spots are, I can only speculate. When cats wake up from anesthesia, they are very disoriented, and can sometimes fall in the cage during recovery. During her recovery, it is possible that Forrest injured herself, causing these bald spots. From your description of them being red, it is possible they are infected and it is a good idea that she is seen by a vet. I would not put any neosporin or vaseline on them. Although quite safe on superficial wounds, cats groom and ingest most of the topical ointment you apply and therefore should be used only under direct veterinary supervision and if there are no other appropriate options. Many human ointments contain multiple other ingredients which are not necessarily safe to be swallowed.
