My cat is lethargic and sniffly, but eating and drinking. What's wrong?

Hello. You are describing Heidi with an upper respiratory infection. Most of these are viruses & generally run their course in 10-14 days. As long as Heidi is eating & drinking, she may not need to be on any medications. If you have never had her tested for feline leukemia & feline immunodeficiency virus ( & never vaccinated ), this might be something to request that your vet do this. This might change how she is or is not treated now & in the future. Just like with us, keeping her hydrated & eating are the best ways to deal with these infections. Offer her canned foods, broths or stocks & even tuna water. The more hydrated she is, the better she will feel. Any concerns, please see your veterinarian for further treatments. Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Acting slow or 'off' is a sign of an animal not feeling well in general. This can happen due to many different causes including fevers, pain, stress, dehydration, and many other causes. If he is just a little bit off and still eating, you can try waiting a day or two, because if this is just a small virus it will pass. If he stops eating, is vomiting, seems sore, or isn't improving, or becoming more dull, then I would get him to a vet right away. Also, if there is ANY possibility he got into any rat-bait I would get him seen immediately. Best of luck with Half And Half, I hope he feels better soon!

If smudge is not eating or drinking I strongly recommend a visit to the veterinarian. He may have an upper respiratory infection or virus, which can cause fever, lethargy and decrease in eating. Depending on what the veterinarian fines smudge may need antibiotics or antiviral medication or other treatment to get him eating and drinking again. Good luck and I hope he's feeling better soon.

I am sorry to hear about Luna. Since she is lethargic and has a decreased appetite, I would recommend she have an examination by her vet. She may have an upper respiratory infection that requires treatment, and reasons we recommend veterinary care include lethargy, decreased appetite, trouble breathing, coughing. Poor Teddy! Yes, I would recommend to take Teddy back in today. Male cats always have a concern for a urinary blockage which is an emergency. It’s a good idea just to have his bladder palpated to check for such a condition. The doctor may also change the antibiotic or may give him medication to soothe the stomach. Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Vomiting several times a day for a week along with not eating or drinking much is certainly concerning. The sneezing could indicate a respiratory infection. There are lots of health reasons for her symptoms and Lilly really should see her veterinarian as soon as possible to have her evaluated and treated. Your veterinarian will do an exam and may recommend additional testing such as blood work or x-rays to pin down a cause so Lilly can get the treatment she needs and start to feel better.

I am sorry Teddy is not feeling well. I would recommend taking Teddy to a vet for a good physical exam and some basic blood work. With Teddy being a 7 year old cat it possible he is starting to have thyroid issues, kidney issues or even just arthritis. However with him being an outside cat we do always get concerned about parasites and toxin. A vet visit would be best to determine why Teddy is acting this way and provide proper treatment. hope that helps
