Why is my cat lethargic with bad diarrhea after mating?

As long as she continues to eat well, this should slowly resolve over the course of the next 3-4 days. Decreased appetite is normal in the later stages of pregnancy. So no worries there, as long as she is eating portions of her food. Loose stool can also occur, but should return to normal after a few days, and she should still have normal energy level and not hide. Hiding in cats, when they typically are social cats, is usually an indicator that something is wrong. I would see how she does in the next day or two, and if the diarrhea does not resolve, then have her stools checked by your vet. Poor Nariko! It's very concerning that she's so lethargic and not eating, as these are often signs of a serious problem in cats. Since she had stillborn kittens, it's possible that she could have a serious uterine infection or even a dead kitten still inside her. Cats can also get pregnancy toxemia, eclampsia, and other life-threatening problems around the time of birth. I would recommend taking Nariko to a vet immediately for an exam. He/she can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

No, this is not normal. Not eating is very abnormal in young kittens. Most common reasons for the behavior you described is viral disease and internal parasites. Other options are trauma (like he fell and hurt himself) and intestinal obstruction. Milo really needs to be assessed by a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Diarrhea means that Lily is sick. I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that helps. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she vomits the bland diet, she refuses to eat the bland diet, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.

It is not typical for a cat to develop diarrhea after going into heat. Diarrhea could be related to intestinal parasites, some infectious diseases, or a food sensitivity. I would not be worried about anything at this stage based on your description. However, I recommend you speak to your vet about deworming for mom and the kittens. They can start deworming as early as 2 weeks of age. The diarrhea may be normal due to hormonal changes, could be diet related or it may be due to worms.
