My cat's legs are spasming. Is this normal or should I see a vet?

I recommend video taping the episodes Plo is having. The concern is he is having a seizure but without seeing it, it is hard to say. You can send the video to your veterinarian to have them take a look to see if it is something that requires a visit to them or not. It could be due to a neurologic condition or perhaps an orthopedic condition causing some kind of pain or discomfort. If this continues, I recommend you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to start with a good physical examination and possibly diagnostics to get to the bottom of this so that therapy if any can be started. Have a great day!

Muscle spasms can be normal, sometimes humans have muscles twitching out of nowhere and it's not a serious problem. It's good that Faelynn isn't having any diarrhea and vomiting, and the lethargy could be due to the transition to a new home. That can be stressful for a cat. I'm wondering if she is eating and drinking. If she is eating and drinking, I wouldn't get too worried yet and rush her into a vet. Keep an eye on her, and if she stops eating or drinking, starts vomiting or having diarrhea, or continues to be lethargic over the next 48 hours, then I would take her into the vet. Milo could have acted this way for a number of reasons including: - bite or sting on one of the back paws - litter or tape stuck on the paws -back or leg pain -neurological problem If he seems normal now, I would just monitor for another episode. It's quite hard to appreciate exactly what you mean without seeing these tremors. However, it is very promising that he was otherwise well during the day. It may simply be movement of the muscles during sleep which often happens. Alternatively he may have strained a muscle and it could be in spasm. If the issue persists I would certainly go to your vet and have him examined. I don't think it sounds like anything too serious, but I understand that you are worried and a trip to the vets msy help alleviate this.

It could be Shaky is in pain, either from his back or hips. Rest him tonight, keep him indoors if he's allowed outside, and watch him. If he's still acting this way in the morning, have him seen by a vet. Do not give him any human pain medications. Many are toxic to cats, and are fatal if given. Best of luck.
