Why does my cat have a red, painful sore with black dots on her leg?

It looks painful and infectied. It may be a tumor or cyst or even an old wound that is an abscess and starting to open and drain. Clean with with warm soap and water then applly a warm compress to help the swelling. Make sure she stays confined so you can watch the area. If it ruptures and drains, it will actually be not as painful but just gently wipe the area if this happens. She does need to see a vet for antibiotics though.

Sounds like a bite wound or a puncture wound from something Skye could have snagged herself on while out and about. The wound needs to be explored, flushed, and possibly drained. Skye will very likely require some antibiotics in order to get better, as well as anti-inflammatory medication to control pain and/or fever if she has one. I would get her into the veterinarian in the morning at the very latest so that treatment can be instituted. The longer you wait, the worse the infection can become. Hope this makes sense.

This is most likely an infection, a parasite under the skin or a cancer. These conditions all need medical care. I recommend to have your kitty examined by the veterinarian for appropriate diagnosis and treatment. She will need antibiotics, the area cleaned, possibly pain medication, possibly antiparasitics and an elizabethan collar. The vet may also recommend additional treatment. The lesion in the photo looks to be an infection. It is not possible to determine the severity or how deep it is because if the crusty buildup on the surface. This may be bacterial or fungal, but it should be looked at by your vet and Jibgkes will at least need a prescription antibiotic or anti fungal medication. If the wound under the surface is deep, surgical debridement may be necessary.

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria or fungal). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics or antifungal meds (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection can eventually be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be due to ringworm. This could also be just a focal skin bacterial infection, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly. Ringworm can be transmitted to humans so just in case this is what is going with him, wear gloves when handling this lesion. Good luck and best wishes!

I am not sure what is the cause of this skin lesion but it looks very infected, you need to take her to the vet today in order to get it checked, she will need a course of antibiotics for that. because of her age it might be a good idea to have a blood test done just to make sure there isn't an internal disease in the background as well.
