My cat's anti-seizure medicine was late. Is she okay and what about the next dose?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 9 lbs

My cat is taking Levetiracetum XR every twelve hours (twice a day) as per the prescription as an anti seizure medication. We give her the medicine around 5:30. today we lost track of time and she didn’t get it until 6:15. Should we be concerned about seizures occurring due to getting her medicine late? And is it safe to give her her morning dose at 5:30 am as scheduled?

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. If you only gave the medication at 4pm and not both 4pm and 8pm she should be fine. Giving it 4 hours early is OK. Just try your best to give it every 24 hours if at all possible.

Hello. You can definitely skip the 7 PM dose today & restart the schedule tomorrow morning, or if you think it will simplify things, just give the pill in the evenings from here on out. Can I give my cat phenobarbital left out of fridge for 12 hours?

12 hours isn't too long as long as long as it wasn't heated. I would still give it to her or at least give her a dose from one of the bottles and then call the compounding pharmacy tomorrow to make sure it is okay to continue using.

Hello. You do not indicate what medication Lily is on so I cannot really say, but if there is no way to pick up the meds, you will just have to make do. But in general, missing a few doses are fine, unless this is a life saving heart drug.
