Can I give my cat phenobarbital left out of fridge for 12 hours?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 6 years and 3 months old | 10 lbs

I left my cat's compounded phenobarbital solution in the cabinet for 12 hours instead of the fridge. Can I still give it to her? Would it be better to give her older medication from the bottom of other bottles?

12 hours isn't too long as long as long as it wasn't heated. I would still give it to her or at least give her a dose from one of the bottles and then call the compounding pharmacy tomorrow to make sure it is okay to continue using.
