Why does my spayed female cat knead and leak a bad-smelling fluid?

It can leak out when the glands are full or if something scares the cat, they can express them. The anal glands normally are expressed during defecation. I would have the anal glands checked by your Vet. If he is starting to spray around the house I would have him neutered. I hope this helps and I wish you the best!

It sounds like Vanilla is masturbating. Female cats can masturbate just like male cats do, and the best way to stop this behavior is to have her spayed as soon as possible. She may learn, however, that this behavior feels good and keeps doing it, but spaying her should lessen the number of times she masturbates. I would speak to your vet about getting her spayed.

I'm guessing Good has watery diarrhea, although anal glands could also produce a small amount of bad smelling fluid that could leak from her anus. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian if you aren't sure what this fluid it. If it seems to be diarrhea parasites would be a possible cause. Anal glands can become infected or impacted and produce more fluid than normal.

If she an older, or neutered cat, this behaviour could be a sign of hind legs or abdominal discomfort. In that case, you should take your Catu to your local vets for a check.

Cats and dogs have scent glands on either side of the anus called anal glands. The material in the glands is very stinky and often described as smelling fishy. Most wild animals can empty these glands voluntarily for scent marking or in self-defense (like a skunk might do), but dogs and cats have largely lost their ability to empty these sacs voluntarily. They normally release these glands during defecation, but can also release with excitement or stress. So, if Ariel struggled or got excited when you moved her, she likely expressed her anal glands. It is not anything to be concerned about, but can certainly be stinky, so you may need to clean the area of the couch that she was licking to get rid fo the smell. Kittyanu is masturbating. It's a normal behavior, and he's learned that it feels good. If he kneads on you and starts this behavior, immediately put him down and ignore him to teach him you do not like that behavior and you will ignore him if he does it.

It sounds like the odor you are describing is discharge from Ed's anal glands. Anal glands are a scent marking gland (as you could guess) since they produce a very strong odor. It is normal to animals to express anal gland material when very stimulated or startled. However, I would recommend having your vet examine Ed's anal glands to make sure they are not overly full.
