My cat's kittens vanished. Did she hide them or did my dog eat them?

Unfortunately, this is possible. She also may have placed them somewhere outside where the kittens were susceptible to predators. Kittens will not survive long on their own, so depending on how long they may have been without their mother, this situation could be dire. I would spend some time searching the property and the surrounding neighborhood to see if you can find anything that looks like a nesting area. If you can, try and move the kittens back to somewhere that is safe for both them and the mom. Hope this helps.

If she was afraid they might be in any danger, that is likely why she moved them. She will know where that 3rd kitten is hiding. The kittens are 4 weeks old, and will start moving around more and more. Hopefully, the 3rd one should start showing up soon. Try not to disturb her too much in your search, she might become upset if her area becomes "too busy" and may move them again.

It's likely that Princess has hidden the kittens in a safe place rather than eating them. The big belly is probably due to intestinal parasites, which are common in stray cats. Princess will need a deworming treatment from the vet, as will her kittens. I would try to find the kittens, and then bring Princess and her kittens into the vet for an exam and deworming treatment. There are several possibilities: She had a miscarriage and the kittens were dead and she cleaned up, ie ate them. Or she had them and hid them. You will know soon, when she disappears once in a while....you may need to follow her secretly to find the babies. third possibilities is that the babies had some defects and she ate them. She will have a discharge for about a week , which should be odorless. If she gets lethargic, stops eating or if the discharge gets smelly she will need to be examined by a vet.

Hi , I’m sorry about your loss. It is very saddening to hear all the kittens have died. I think if your dog hasn’t been near the other two kittens and unwillingly caused their death by playing with them, it could be that mum has killed them as felt the environment was not safe for the kittens anymore. Cats can get really frightened and protective with their kittens and failure to be able to provide protection could have led to your cat’s frustration and sadly causing death of the other kittens. It is just a supposition, you could also have your cat checked over at your Vets for any signs of illness that could have been transmitted to the kittens but it seems a strange coincidence or them to pass away shortly after the first one has without any symptom.

If the box was moved to a location that Matcha doesn't think is safe for her kittens, she may have moved them to another location that she thinks is safer. I would leave her alone and see what she does. If she has moved 2 of the kittens, she will likely move the other 2 kittens to the same locations soon. If momma isn't worried, then I'm not worried. But I would be sure that she has a safe location for her kittens before night because sometimes momma cats don't chose the best locations for their babies. Once everyone is happy with their location, I would try not to move the box. I hope that helps!
