My cat killed a chameleon and vomited. Is she safe, or does she need a vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bengal | Female | spayed

My cat is 5 years old. She recently killed a chameleon, but did not eat it. The next day, she vomited once and did not eat much for the whole day. She became normal the next day. Now she is active, feels hungry and eats well as well. Should I take her to the vet. Is there any threat?

I'm so sorry to hear that Ammu is having this problem.

As long as she is eating and drinking well now and acting normally I wouldn't be too worried. Chameleons are not poisonous to cats. Just monitor her closely and if you notice any more vomiting, not eating, or any other abnormal behavior then I would get her to your vet right away.

Of course, you know her best and if you're worried it is never wrong to take her to your vet for check up now!

I hope this helps! Best wishes.
