My cat killed a chameleon and vomited. Is she safe, or does she need a vet?

I am sorry to hear about Kiara! If she has just vomited one time and is otherwise acting normally- normal bowel movements, energy level, and appetite, I would just observe her closely. If she continues to vomit or becomes lethargic or inappetant then she should see the vet. I would probably avoid giving her eggs and stick to her kitten food especially given that she has an upset tummy after this incident.

It's very common for cats to eat mice and other small animals - this does not normally cause any problems at all :) If Chimpu has only vomited once and is acting normal otherwise, there is probably no cause for concern. If he continues to vomit, or if he develops other symptoms such as not eating or acting lethargic, then I would recommend having him seen by a vet to determine what's wrong.

Cleaning solutions are usually irritating to the stomach and intestines, but don't tend to cause much internal toxicity besides that. If she is eating, drinking and acting normally, then I would not be too concerned. She may have diarrhea for a day or two also, but this is OK. If she continues to vomit for more than 24 hours, has diarrhea for more than three days, or is not eating, drinking and acting normally, then I recommend taking her to the vet. Otherwise, I think it will be safe for her to stay home under observation for the time-being. I hope that helps and all is well with Lily.

Oh no it's not good that Kitty ate that vomit! At most, I would expect that eating this vomit could cause some GI upset, causing her to vomit and/or have diarrhea. It's good that it doesn't look like she has eaten the plastic bag, and if she ate the bag, I would be concerned that the bag could cause a foreign body obstruction. Keep an eye on her for now, and if you see any vomiting or diarrhea, I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps her. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feeding a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Some lizard species may be toxic, most are not. Another concern is that Bacchu may become infected with intestinal parasites or liver flukes. Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. These are symptoms of serious illness that should be addressed by your veterinarian. If she is drooling excessively, try rinsing her mouth with cool water for at least 15 minutes then monitor for redness or swelling in and around the mouth.

The lizard your kitten ate may have upset her tummy. She may vomit, drool excessively, and not want to eat for a few days while the lizard is still in her stomach. If this behavior continues for more than 48 hours I would recommend taking her in the see the vet. If it was an isolated incident and she's not acting sick otherwise, I would just monitor her closely. If she does continue vomiting or develops diarrhea, lethargy or poor appetite, I would be concerned and would take her to your family veterinarian for an examination.
