My cat's jaw is bleeding 36 hours after injury. When will it stop?

This could be something else such as a mass which is why it has not resolved or perhaps an abscess that is not sensitive to the antibiotics that were used. Mild bleeding should stop within the next 30-60 min. However, broken canine tooth should be extracted as there is an increased risk of infection and chronic pain through the exposed tooth pulp.

I would recommend having a veterinarian look at this for the most appropriate treatment. She will likely need to be sedated and have stitches placed in this area to help reattach the skin to the jaw.

Hello. I am concerned that Snowball may have some issues with the tissues deeper in his mouth. There is a condition called stomatitis, which can cause bleeding, inflammation & significant pain. Your cat will be reluctant to eat as it hurts to swallow. Your veterinarian can discover the cause of the blood & hopefully make some recommendations for treating Snowball & hopefully get him feeling better soon. Bob is a very handsome boy! From your pictures, he actually looks swollen to me under his jaw line, which could be his lymph nodes. These could be swollen due to an infection, such as a severe dental problem. That could also cause him to cough and sputter. It also isn't normal that his mouth is hanging open. Given that this has been going on for a couple of days and the appearance of the swelling of his jaw line, it would be best that he is seen by a vet as soon as possible. The vet can diagnose what is causing his symptoms so he can be treated. Please take him into a vet now.

Broken tooth, mouth ulcers, electrocution (does she chew cords?) toxin, GI upset, foreign body, and more can all cause this - and all need some degree of medical attention. If it does not resolve in the next week or so, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Best of luck!
