My cat is injured, paralyzed, pink pee. What medication can I give?

Causes of inappropriate urination with blood are: urinary tract infection, stress cystitis, crystals in the urine, bladder stone, or a bladder tumor. It is likely that Nina has a bacterial UTI but there are many other causes for her issues. With her history of kidney issues she should be examined and a urine sample should be tested before starting her on antibiotics. Using antibiotics inappropriately builds resistance. I recommend taking her to the Vet and trying to not let her urinate for several hours (lock her in a room with out a box) or collect a urine sample to bring with you. If she does have a UTI your Vet can appropriately dose the Clavaseptin and tell you how long based on her specific infection. I wish Nina a speedy recovery!

Please take her to a Pet ER for an exam, urinalysis and prescription pain medicine if needed. It is rare for cats to have an actual infection (UTI), however cats often get a stress induced inflammatory reaction of the bladder which is quite painful and has the same signs as a UTI. Please do not give her any medication designated for humans. Cats often cannot metabolize human medications properly. Best take her to a Pet ER now. If you call your vet's office, there will be information on the nearest emergency veterinary service on the answering machine.

Hello. In your post, you indicated that your cannot cannot pee. This is a life threatening emergency and he should be taken to the closest hospital or emergency clinic. If he has an obstruction, this needs to be taken care of immediately. In addition to it being very painful, it causes kidney failure and he can die if this is not corrected immediately. His urine should be looked at microscopically to determine if he has an infection or crystals or possibly a small stone. He will require a catheterization while sedated to relieve the blockage. He will probably need fluids and may require hospitalization. While the antibiotics you have listed are all potentially good for a uti, we are legally not permitted to prescribe or recommend a dose without an examination. Hi there and thanks for posting. Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear Kitty was lost for a few days. That had to be very stressful. Also, I am sorry to hear she came back with a few medical issues. It is hard to say what exactly is going on with Kitty without examining Kitty first, but from your description it seems like Kitty may have injured her pelvis, spine, or rear limbs that may be causing her to not urinate properly or defecate as it may be painful for her or she has some neurological deficits disabling her to have control of her bladder. She could also have a urinary tract infection causing the straining to urinate as well. I would recommend visiting a veterinarian clinic soon so she can get some x-rays and a neurological exam in addition to a regular physical exam. I would hold off on giving any antibiotics and wait to be seen by the veterinarian. She needs more than a topical cream. She needs systemic antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication. Have her examined by your veterinarian today. She may need daily bathing with a medicated shampoo as well. Dry her thoroughly after each bath. You will need to change her diapers more often as well. they may be trapping moisture and keeping urine close to the skin which will result in urine scalding which lads to infection.

Unfortunately you will not be able to just order an antibiotic online. This may not be a urinary tract infection and could be what we call a sterile cystitis. You could start by ensuring she is drinking plenty of water (recirculating water fountains help), switch to canned food and start a supplement called paxon or cranberry supplement treats for cats, which can be found online. If the symptoms are no better, the next step would be to have her seen by a veterinarian for testing and further treatment. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction.
