Cat straining to pee, blood in urine. Vet closed, can I use human meds?

Unfortunately there is nothing you would have at home thst you could give her, and even meds from the vet could be dangerous if she has kidney issues. I would recommend taking her for an exam as it may just be bladder infection. The vets can check her kidneys too and get you sorted with safe medication.

Blood in the urine can be due to a few different problems. If it is red-colored urine and Lily has been urinating more frequently lately, then it is most likely a bladder infection/inflammation, but could also be a kidney infection. If it appears like fresh blood at the end of the urine stream, then this could indicate a problem with the vagina, cervix, or could be coming from the rectum. Either way, it's best that you take Lily to a veterinarian for treatment soon. If she is going to the litter box and nothing is coming out within the last 24 hours, then this is an emergency and I recommend you take her to the vet immediately. They will be able to locate where the problem is and provide the most appropriate treatment. Either way, Lily will need a professional to diagnose this problem and to provide the most effective treatment. Without good treatment, she can have life-threatening complications. Hello. In your post, you indicated that your cannot cannot pee. This is a life threatening emergency and he should be taken to the closest hospital or emergency clinic. If he has an obstruction, this needs to be taken care of immediately. In addition to it being very painful, it causes kidney failure and he can die if this is not corrected immediately. His urine should be looked at microscopically to determine if he has an infection or crystals or possibly a small stone. He will require a catheterization while sedated to relieve the blockage. He will probably need fluids and may require hospitalization. While the antibiotics you have listed are all potentially good for a uti, we are legally not permitted to prescribe or recommend a dose without an examination. Oh no, poor kitty! Peeing blood could be due to a UTI or bladder stones. Unfortunately, there's nothing at home you can give her, she needs to see a vet as soon as possible for this. Fixing a UTI or bladder stones requires medications that can only be gotten from the vet. Given that she is a stray, I would see if there is an animal shelter or an animal charity in your area that can help you with her.

Unfortunately you can't treat this over the counter. Urinary tract infections are painful and require antibiotics. Pets can also have crystals in the urine, cystitis and bladder stones which have the same symptoms as infections but there is no infection. Hazel is likely in pain. Have her seen by your veterinarian. You can request conservative treatment and your veterinarian may prescribe a broad spectrum antibiotic for a presumed urinary tract infection without performing recommended diagnostics (urine culture, urinalysis, abdominal xrays, blood work). It may help, however the risk is that the bloody urine may not be caused by "simple" infection. Other possibilities are inflammation, tumor or stones. If Luna should become completely obstructed, this will turn into an emergency and potentially life threatening condition.
