Depending on how short his tail his, he may have some nerve damage to affects his bladder control. It may be something easy such as a bladder infection. Your vet can do a urine sample to see if there is an infection and exam his reflexes and tail to determine if that is the problem.

Hi there and thanks for posting. Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear Kitty was lost for a few days. That had to be very stressful. Also, I am sorry to hear she came back with a few medical issues. It is hard to say what exactly is going on with Kitty without examining Kitty first, but from your description it seems like Kitty may have injured her pelvis, spine, or rear limbs that may be causing her to not urinate properly or defecate as it may be painful for her or she has some neurological deficits disabling her to have control of her bladder. She could also have a urinary tract infection causing the straining to urinate as well. I would recommend visiting a veterinarian clinic soon so she can get some x-rays and a neurological exam in addition to a regular physical exam. This usually happens when there is something painful in the pelvis or lower spine. This can be due to arthritis in the area, nerve pinching, or infections around that area. In order to narrow-down the cause of this and get some good treatment, I recommend having her evaluated by a veterinarian sometime soon within the next week or so. Sounds like she may have sustained damage to the nerves that go to the rectum and therefore, she can't hold her bowels. This is called fecal incontinence. I cannot tell you what the cost of treatment would be because I don't really know what is going on with her without examining her myself. Depending on what your vet finds on the exam they may want to x-ray her pelvis/hind legs/lower spine area to see if there is any fractures or dislocations. Sometimes the animal appears to be walking normally but there is still something wrong underlying. The way she is sitting in that one photo makes me think there is something wrong in the hind end area.... I would guess you are looking at $150-$200 minimum. I cannot diagnose over the internet nor do I have any idea what vets charge for services in your area so you will just have to get the examination done first and go from there with your vet. She could have a neurological problem or an orthopedic problem with her hips. Your vet could take hip x-rays to look for abnormalities and then prescribe an anti-inflammatory if there is any evidence pain could be a contributing factor. You could also try Feliway spray if the problem could be due to anxiety and see if that helps.
