Is my cat in heat? What are the behavioral signs to look for?

Signs of heat are excessive vocalizations, being more affectionate and many cats will roll around on the floor. A female cat in heat will: arch her back, vocalize (meow) a lot, rub her face and body on everything in the house and become super affectionate. A car with worms will scoot her rear end and lick her rear end a lot. She may also start to urinate outside the litter box because of the stress from the worms, if not treated right away.

If Honey is in heat, she will be very receptive to the introduction of a male, and will show it by presenting her rear end to him and lifting up her tail. When a cat is in heat, they have significant behavioral changes, including increased vocalization, increased affection, crawling and rolling on the floor, and restlessness. It sounds like Bonnie is in heat! The behavior you describe is typical when a cat is in heat and is looking to mate. It is quite likely she is in heat, especially if she is also calling or shouting loudly. If you do not want kittens, be sure to keep her indoors and isolated from any unneutered male cats until you can have her spayed

It could just be that Astro is happy. It could also be that Astro is getting ready to go into heat. Most cats who are in heat will exhibit a specific body posture called lordosis. It could be that Ochan is in heat, and her behavior of being super affectionate when you pet her makes me suspect this is the case. Cats do not always have constant behavior each time they go into heat, and they can act aggressive. If you do not want to have to deal with this constant cycle of behavior (and it can get worse with constant vocalization), I would recommend having her spayed as soon as possible.
