My cat hit his face on a cat tree. How do I treat his mouth injury?

My cat hit his face while trying to jump up to a cat tree and hurt his little mouth and I just want to make sure he isnt hurt too bad and that I'm taking care of his injury correctly

Ouch, poor Asia! I would gently clean the wound with warm water and antiseptic soap. To keep him from licking at it, you can put an Ecollar on him. You can get one at a pet store or make one at home. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. I hope this helps!

It's difficult to know the extent of his injuries without seeing him, but it's good to do some basic wound management.

The first thing you should do with it is flush the wound using a syringe or other dispensing device with warm water for five minutes. This may not be easy, because cats tend to hate water getting near their face. I recommend having someone help you with this and wrapping him in a towel to make sure the wound gets flushed well. Infection is the biggest concern with these wounds; so it's best to flush the wound 1-2 times a day and gently wipe away any big crusts - make sure not to scrub the wound, because this can make it worse.

I would recommend a vet check to ensure there is no infection or debris in the wound but at this late stage surgical repair may not be possible with treatment aiming to keep the area clean and allow secondary wound healing.

These products typically provide a really good antiseptic cleanse of the area and can help heal minor lesions around or in the mouth. However, if you notice any swelling, or no improvement within that time frame, its best to have Pete looked at by your vet. He likely will need antibiotics to help it heal if that is the case. It really depends on how severe the damage is. If it is simply a case of some swelling the treatment may simply be to let her rest. However if she seems painful or is acting strangely then she would need to go to the vet as and possibly get an anti-inflammatory mefucation. They may need to do investigations also. Don't give her any at home painkillers as many are toxic to cats.
