Can a cat go into heat just days after giving birth to kittens?

Cats go into heat multiple times a year, so Habia can potentially have a couple of litters of kittens a year. The only way to prevent this from occurring is to have her spayed. After Habia has her next litter of kittens, I would keep her indoors and isolated from intact male cats completely. Once the kittens are weaned at six to eight weeks of age, I would take her into the vet to have her spayed. This will prevent her from becoming pregnant again.

Cats are often going into heat within 2 weeks after weaning the kittens. The discharge is called lochia and can last several weeks after the kittens are born. I recommend spaying these cats right around the time the kittens are weaned, or within that 2 week period after, to insure they do not get bred again. Then you won't have to worry about Shadow having another litter.

They can go back in to heat, if it’s the right time of year right, around when the kittens are weaned. Rhis is normal biology for cats. They are recovered by then. Yes, she will because female cats ovulate just when they mate, so the chances of her getting pregnant when mating is close to 100%. The way to prevent pregnancy is to have her spayed, if not keep her indoors and spay any males that could come in contact with her. Male surgery is normally less invasive and cheaper and perhaps something to consider if kittens are newborns.In 6 weeks time you could have her neutered. She could also be neutered sooner if really necessary, but it is a bit more risky in terms of surgery for herself and for the kittens. Hope this helps !

Some cats can go back into heat very quickly after giving birth, and that will cause a male cat to be attracted to her. Tangerine may also be smelling the scent of the kittens, which would make him interested in what is producing this new smell. I would keep the mother cat completely separated from Tangerine and any other cats while nursing her kittens so she can be a stress free as possible. I hope this helps!
