It appears that your kitty has a so-called cat bite abscess. You should take her temperature and if she has a temperature of over 103F she will need to be seen by your vet and the abscess needs to be drained properly. She will also need antibiotics, If she does not have a fever, the abscess is draining nicely (you can put gentle pressure on it and remove the discharge with a tissue) and does not refill, then it might heal by itself. However since this abscess is close to the eye I strongly recommend you taking Calypso to your vet tomorrow for an exam and treatment.

Common infections in that area are associated with fungal (Cryptococcus neoformans or Aspergillus) or bacterial. Cancer can also cause this in older cats. A sample of his nose, bloodwork, and urine sampling would aid to differentiate between these diseases. Poor, Tommy. His nose looks very painful! There can be many potential causes for this, including fungal infection, bacterial infection, mites, contact allergy, autoimmune disease, or cancer. I recommend that he see a vet as soon as possible. The vet may recommend diagnostics like cytology to look at cells under the microscope, or cultures to figure out what could be growing there. Medications may be prescribed, like antibiotics, anti-fungals, or ant-inflammatories.

It is an unusual presentation for sure, as we commonly see abscesses around this area in cats but it is unusual to see them symmetrical (if that is what you are describing), we would also worry about an infection in the root of the tooth, lymph nodes, or salivary glands. Unfortunately your cat require veterinary care, this is not something you can treat at home. You will have to figure out a way to get him into a vet. This may involve finding a clinic that is lower cost- some humane societies or animal protective leagues have lower cost clinics available. There is nothing you can apply topically that Gizmoe won't rub or lick off immediately. Have him examined by your veterinarian. There could be a bite wound or claw wound that is causing the swelling and discharge. Gizmoe may need antibiotics for any infection and pain management since he is likely in some degree of discomfort.

In a 10 year old cat, it's certainly possible that your cat has a tumor. Given that he has been having continuing problems with this swelling, I recommend having further testing done such a blood tests, urinalysis, and x-rays of his head. This will help vet see if there is a tumor in his nasal cavity, and then the vet can discuss treatment options.

My worry is that the bite wound is now a closed abscess and needs to be lanced so it can drain. Antibiotics have a hard time penetrating a puss filled pocket. I would not recommend waiting a week.
