My 8-month-old cat has a hard white lump inside his lip. What is it?

If these are symmetrical on both sides and not changing, they are likely normal for Cali. Some cats will develop a benign thickening in the lip where the opposite canine tooth touches. Your vet will be able to provide better feedback with an in-person exam, but as long as they’re not changing and Cali seems comfortable, it can probably wait until Cali’s next routine appointment. While there is normally irregular bumps around that area of the lip, it is usually not that big. I would have your vet check it to be sure. It maybe a growth or an infection or inflamed from that tooth rubbing it

I suspect this might be what is called a "resorptive lesion." There is a tiny tooth right there, and for some cats, they develop lesions where the body actually breaks down their teeth over time. They can be painful. For some cats, they don't show any signs. Have him evaluated by your vet; they may recommend a sedated dental exam and dental xrays to evaluate the tooth roots. If roots are left under the surface, its potentially a source of infection and pain, and surgical removal of the root may be considered. Other possible causes of the bump would be inflammation, infection, (unlikely based on appearance), or an abnormal grownth/tumor. Get him in to your vet when you can to have it checked out. The picture is a little blurry but if you are referring to the little bump on the lower lip, that is normal anatomy of a cat. You’ll see one on the other side as well. If you are referring to something else, my general rule is, if you are worried about it, schedule a vet appointment. This is double true if Xena seems to have trouble eating, is drooling, or is bleeding from the area. If xena is acting totally normally, you can always keep an eye on if for a few days and then decide. Best of luck to you and Xena!

Unfortunately, without examining Duracell, I do not know if the lesion that you are seeing in his mouth is normal or not. There are a number of normal papilla and other structures that could be the bump that you have seen, or this lesion could be the result of an ulcer, mass, or other abnormality. I recommend taking Duracell to his vet for a physical exam to get to the bottom of this situation.

Hello. At this point, it looks like Zam Zam has a small cyst on his lip. It would help to know his age, but if he is a pretty young cat, a couple of years or so, then I would not be concerned that this is anything really serious. It may even be related to an allergic response called a rodent ulcer. If it remains this small, then no immediate attention is required, but if it dramatically begins to enlarge, you will want to have it evaluated. this kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally and immediately assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Differentials include skin cysts, infections (an abscess), benign or more sinister type of tumors.
