Why is there a growing bump on my cat's gum? What should I do?

This may be an abscess, a cyst or a tumor. You should have it examined by your veterinarian, as it is not possible to distinguish these by just looking at a photo. An abscess can usually be treated with antibiotics and/or be lanced, and a cyst can be evacuated. To identify a tumor, your vet may want to do a fine needle aspirate (he takes some material from the bump with a needle and then looks at it under the microscope) to determine whether the mass is concerning.

This could be lentigo, which is a pigmented spot that is harmless to cats. Croissant is a young cat, and for it to be cancer would be rare in a cat his age. I would keep an eye on this spot for now. If it get bigger or starts to bother him, then I would have him checked out by a vet. I hope this helps!

Pets can get many types of lumps and bumps. Most of these tumors will be benign but some will be malignant and you can't tell by looks. The doctor may recommend to aspirate the mass to examine the cells under a microscope. That is one of the best ways to know what it is and if further action is needed. Hello. I would just watch this for now. I have removed several of these off of older cats, & they are most often benign & not dangerous. Removal is always curative. If it looks like it is enlarging, or it is interfering with his ability to eat or chew, definitely consider having it removed. Otherwise, just monitor for now. Poor Jinx! This could be a few different things like a tooth root abscess, an abscess from a bite wound, or a benign or cancerous growth. Since it is growing so rapidly, I would strongly recommend to have your vet look at it soon. Your vet will be able to do an aspirate of the mass to see whether it needs to be surgically removed or if medication may help it go down. I hope this helps and he starts to feel better soon!

I suspect this might be what is called a "resorptive lesion." There is a tiny tooth right there, and for some cats, they develop lesions where the body actually breaks down their teeth over time. They can be painful. For some cats, they don't show any signs. Have him evaluated by your vet; they may recommend a sedated dental exam and dental xrays to evaluate the tooth roots. If roots are left under the surface, its potentially a source of infection and pain, and surgical removal of the root may be considered. Other possible causes of the bump would be inflammation, infection, (unlikely based on appearance), or an abnormal grownth/tumor. Get him in to your vet when you can to have it checked out. The pink raised mass in the picture appears to be a wart. I would not be concerned about this unless it grows or changes in color. The lump you feel could range from a cyst to a cancerous growth. I would recommend taking her to a veterinarian for an aspirate. This is where they can take cells from the mass and look at it with microscope
