My cat's green eye is turning brown. Could cat litter be why?

It looks like Memo could have changes to the iris due to anterior uveitis or inflammation in the eye. This can cause the pupil to become smaller and the iris to change colors. It’s also possible that Memo has a growth on this eye. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian so they can examine Memo’s eye in person. They may want to check his eye pressure.

It is common for kittens to undergo an eye color change. If your cat is an older cat though, it may signify infection or more serious underlying disease. Any sudden change in eye color should be addressed by your vet or veterinary ophthalmologist.

There are a couple of possibilities here for the changes to Creo's iris. One is iris atrophy, which is a normal aging change. This can often result in pigment change and a "moth-eaten" appearance to the iris or an irregular iris border. Another would be a uveal cyst, which is a darkly pigmented circular lesion that can be attached to the iris. Both of these are generally benign. If you notice any changes in Creo's vision, changes to the eye, or signs of pain (squinting, redness, swelling, etc.), have him re-evaluated by your vet just to be safe.

This can be a sign of a systemic disease. The inflammation in the eye can be a serious problem that needs treatment. I recommend a veterinary exam and lab testing to diagnose the problem and start him on the appropriate treatment. I see what you are seeing from the pictures. The pupil is just an opening in the iris (colored part) and what sits inside the eye (behind the pupil, what you see though the pupil) are the lens and the contents of the back of the eye (fundus including retina, etc.). A cloudiness to the eye can occur due to inflammation (uveitis), lens related changes (nuclear sclerosis or cataracts), or sometimes due to cellular infiltrate in the eye. It is good that there are no vision changes and that the eye is comfortable. A cause for this haze should be able to be readily identified by an eye exam by your vet.
