My 12-year-old cat's blue eyes changed. Is it age or a health issue?

Hello. I do not think putting the medication in the eye months ago is causing this situation with Lily now, but you definitely need to have this checked out by your veterinarian. A color change can indicate the presence of uveitis, a general term used to describe inflammation in certain parts of the eye. There are several possible causes or underlying diseases that can cause this, but only a thorough ophthalmologic exam will diagnose the problem. I hope you can have her seen soon. It is common for kittens to undergo an eye color change. If your cat is an older cat though, it may signify infection or more serious underlying disease. Any sudden change in eye color should be addressed by your vet or veterinary ophthalmologist.

I would be concerned that Ball might have inflammation in his eye that has caused the color change to his iris - this condition is known as anterior uveitis and can have many potential underlying causes. Growths on the iris might be another possibility. I'd recommend having his eyes examined by your vet. They may want to check the eye pressure.

Color changes in the eye can be something benign like iris freckles but it can also indicate a cancer called an iris melanoma. I recommend to get Prada into the veterinarian right away for an exam. If you catch things early, you have a much better prognosis. Other issues, if its not the iris, could be conceal edema, or glaucoma. Both require treatment. It looks like Memo could have changes to the iris due to anterior uveitis or inflammation in the eye. This can cause the pupil to become smaller and the iris to change colors. It’s also possible that Memo has a growth on this eye. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian so they can examine Memo’s eye in person. They may want to check his eye pressure.

At a certain stage these can result in blindness. A photo of Puma's eyes would be great to help determine if this is the case. Cataracts can be treated, but it may not be necessary.
