Cat on meds for frequent urination. When will she show improvement?

I am sorry to hear about your kitty! Usually it will take a few days for the antibiotics to show marked improvement. That being said, urine in the blood if there was a large amount may take a few days more to improve. If her other symptoms (urinary urgency or accidents) are improved I would be less concerned. If at the end of the week she is still having blood I would let your vet know as they may want to check for things like a bladder stone or mass which could be causing bleeding.

I'm sorry to hear that Duck is still so uncomfortable! Most cats show significant improvement with respect to their UTI signs within 2 days of antibiotic treatment. Since Duck is still vocalizing in the litter box, his infection may be resistant to the antibiotics being used. I recommend calling his vet because it may be necessary to perform a urine culture to determine to which antibiotics his infection is sensitive. Continue monitoring the size of his urine clumps and go to an ER vet if the clump sizes become significantly smaller or if he stops urinating altogether. I hope that Duck feels better soon!

Clavaseptin (called Clavamox on the U.S. market) usually starts to work pretty quickly. I would expect you to see improvement in 12 - 24 hours after starting it. If you're not seeing improvement two things could be going on: 1.) your cat doesn't have a UTI, and there's something else causing his problems or 2.) the bacteria causing your cat's UTI isn't susceptible to Clavaseptin, and that antibiotic isn't effectively treating the infection. You didn't mention your cat's age but I'll throw in that UTI's are actually extremely uncommon in cats under 8 years of age. Mostly they have a syndrome called feline lower urinary tract disease, often abbreviated FLUTD or FUS. In male cats it can be extremely serious as the inflammation can cause blockage of the urethra and the inability to urinate. If you're seeing anything like this in your cat I'd urge you to seek veterinary care immediately.

It will take a couple days for the antibiotics to start working but they will only help if her underlying problem was a bacterial infection. The fever medication should have worked within an hour or so but it will not keep it down for longer than 24 hours. If she is still not right she should go back to the vet and be put on an IV drip.

A [second opinion](https://www.petcoach.co/article/when-is-it-time-to-seek-a-second-veterinary-opinion) with a different veterinarian, veterinary oncologist or an internal medicine specialist may provide a more definitive diagnosis. That said, with antibiotics, you should start to see some relief from symptoms as early as 24 hours after starting treatment, and should see significant improvement within 72 hours. If you aren't seeing any improvement in Vegas's symptoms after 3-4 days of taking antibiotics, then I would be more inclined to think her symptoms are related to cancer. I hope the antibiotics do help her :-)

That would depend on the underlying cause. If the UTI is caused by an infection, Clavamox will be effective pretty quickly and in 48 hours you will start to see improvement. If not caused by an infection (but to other cause like urinary crystals or stones for example), Clavamox may be effective for few days but signs will come back. Although you aren’t seeing any improvement yet, continue giving the medication as previously prescribed. Sometimes it can take 2 weeks to get the infection under control. Keep in mind also that the infection may be getting better but there is still some exudate/debris in the ear. If, by the time you return from your trip, there is still no improvement, make an appointment for a recheck examination with your vet. Occasionally there are resistant infections that need special medication. Hopefully this will not be the case for Lulu.
