Can my cats get fleas from visitors' clothes if their dog has fleas?

Fleas require a host like a dog or cat to complete their life cycle. If a flea egg got on your clothing it could hatch, but the flea would then die. Advantage also contains a medication that prevents flea eggs from hatching, so if the flea had been on your pet before it jumped off and died the egg would not hatch.

Hi there. It's very unlikely that fleas would survive for any length of time in your car, even if any did jump off of the cat during the trip. As long as you treat the cat, the car should be fine. :)

Oh, that makes me itch too just thinking about fleas crawling around! If you saw one flea, there will definitely be more in the home, but since Jake is on Bravecto, he should be protected from them. Be sure to give him his next dose on time. As for your cat, well there is the potential more were on your clothes and got in your car. I recommend getting a spray called Indorex which can be used to kill fleas. I hope this helps :-)

Great question! If the kitten has fleas or intestinal parasites , you could bring those things home. I would recommend washing your hands and changing your clothes before coming in contact with your cat. Otherwise you should be fine. Kisses to Lucy!

Thanks for visiting Petcoach. I would certainly make sure that your pet does not have active fleas before making any visits. You mentioned he "WAS" on a flea medication for 2 months, so I am not sure if he is current on this medication or not. If he isn't, then certainly get him current on it. Then I would check him for fleas with a "flea comb" that you can purchase from your local pet store. If fleas or any flea dirt (tiny black pepper like specs) are on his haircoat, then it is safe to say that his flea problem is not resolved, and it is best for him to stay home this time around until the flea problem has been completely cleared up. Hello. True bedbugs definitely prefer humans to pets, so there is only a small chance of the cat bringing the pests into your home. But there is a small chance this can happen. I would really recommend boarding the cat while the home is being treated. There are no recommended products that can be used on a cat, so treatment is geared toward eliminating the pests in the home environment. If the dog was treated prior to coming to you house then the fleas are likely dying. It somewhat depends on what treatment the dog was given as to how much of a problem these fleas may be. I would make sure to keep your dog current on flea medication. Vacuum areas where your dad's dog has been and empty the canister outside as this may pick up an flea eggs or larvae that fell off of that dog. More than likely your house will be fine without drastic treatments. Be sure all pets have flea medication applied or given.
