Is it okay to get my cat's first shots and neuter him same day?

In general, it is better to space it out just because both of these procedures (neuter surgery and vaccines) can result in complications or side effects, often times we do them close to each other or at the same time due to logistics and most cats do just fine. Yes, it should be fine to do this unless your dog has some type of specific health concern that makes you worried. We routinely vaccinate dogs on the same day as spay/neuter surgery in my practice, and I have never seen any problems related to this.

Hello, the deworming medication is safe to give prior to surgery as it does not directly interact with the common anesthetics. However, the deworming medication may cause diarrhea and an upset stomach. This can add stress at the time of surgery and perhaps cause a poor appetite post surgery. If you'd like to be completely safe, you can separate the both, however, your kitten should be fine to have both procedures done so close to one another. Hope this helps and best of luck.

I can understand your concern. Vaccine reactions in pets can’t be predicted and is pretty uncommon, with less than 5% of pets having them and even less so in cats. It is necessary in this situation to get Kiski vaccinated so it is best to start the process with your vet. You could also request that he get a pre-vaccination shot to help reduce his chances of a reaction even further. Ask your vet about this when you schedule your appointment or get his immunizations started. And lastly the latest studies suggest that getting all the vaccine done at once instead of spreading them out, reduces the chances of a reaction occurring because you are not challenging the body’s immune system multiple times versus once or twice, if boosters are needed.
