My Tonkinese cats are fighting. Will spay/neuter stop aggression?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Tonkinese | Female | unspayed | 3.5 lbs

I have Tonkinese siblings. In the beginning they lived together fine. But after her brother's attempts to mount her while in heat or not she has become extremely aggressive towards her brother at first sight. Will having one or both of them spayed/neutered stop this aggressive behavior? What should I do? First picture is of sister and second picture is of brother.

They are adorable. Yes I would get both spayed and neutered soon. Most cats once they are neutered usually get along better. The longer this aggression goes on though will make the transition harder. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for your cats.
