My cat's fight wound is watery. Is her antibiotic dosage correct?

It's not going to hurt him to give Augmentin once a day, but it's just going to be slower to help. I would be concerned that this cat has some type of immunosuppressive disease, such as feline AIDs or feline leukemia, that's making it difficult for him to heal. If you can get any vet to help you there is an injectable antibiotic for animals called Convenia; one injection lasts for 2 weeks. Perhaps someone could order it for you; that might be your best bet.

Yes, it is an excellent course of treatment, you just have to make sure that the wound does not create a big abscess, in that case it will need to be lanced, opened and cleaned under sedation, but as you caught it early this treatment should be more than enough.

Hi, if your vet has recommended antibs it is best to complete the course. Either by hiding the tablets in some smelly food such as tuna or sardines, or by giving it with easy pill or vivitreats (some treats where you can hide tablets). If the above is not working, you could ask to your vet if Kitty can have a long acting antibiotic injection. Hope this helps !

It is very hard to tell by the picture, but at this time it appears to be a superficial wound and not very deep. I do not appreciate any swelling around the lesion. At this time if Patxi is eating, drinking, non painful and does not have a fever I would continue to treat it topically. At anytime Patxi develops a fever ,swelling under the lesion or change in behavior I would think antibiotics are warranted.

I understand your predicament. I think this will heal if you just continue to keep the wounds clean and moist. I don't know what was previously recommended but I would suggest this spray. But with oral antibiotics and medications you got from the vet he should heal OK. That is a pretty large wound! That being said though, it looks like it is healing fine. It does not appear swollen or to have discharge coming from it. The tissue looks healthy. Having it stitched when it first happened which would have allowed it to heal faster. I am not sure how long it's been but a wound that size would take weeks to heal without stitches. If I were you I would keep applying a topical antibiotic cream and just leave it be. Stop using the Betadine. If he is licking it you must stop that behavior by using an Elizabethan collar (cone). As long as he keeps licking it will not heal. If you want it to heal faster you need to take him to a vet to have it stitched. Hope this helps. Best wishes!
