My cat eats chicken feed. Should I be concerned about her health?

If any of these are observed, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Otherwise, she could be just fine. Have a great day!

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. If Lily has not developed any gastrointestinal symptoms, like vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea, lack of appetite there is nothing to worry about. The bones she ate have been digested by now.

It would be ok to eat a small amount of chicken, as long as it is baked and not fried. She also needs to eat cat food because an all chicken diet is not a nutritional balanced diet for a cat. If she won't eat both and is only looking for chicken than you may need to feed only cat food so she will start eating it again. You could try different varieties and see which one she eats best.

Sneaky boy! Yes, he’ll be fine. If anything he could vomit or have diarrhea but I don’t expect any problem. Cats in the wild eat lots of things they aren’t supposed to without many issues. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for your cat.

Hi and thanks for your post! Eating cat food on occasion if not a big concern, but everyday occurrence is too much. Not only could it cause GI upset, but it may be causing Chloe to eat too many calories a day which can contribute to weight gain. Limiting access to the cat food as much as possible and having the cats eat separetely will help. Best of luck to you and Chloe!

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If Lilly's appetite has decreased, I would recommend having her seen by her veterinarian for an exam. There may be a medical reason why she is not eating very much- dental or oral disease, parasitic infection, kidney or liver disease, pancreatitis, or other causes could all be possibilities. Hello, and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Small bits of cooked chicken can be a good treat for a cat, but I would stay away from the other foods you mentioned. None of those foods are dangerous, but cheese and milk can cause diarrhea and GI upset, and crackers & bread are not very nutritious for cats. Better to stick with little bits of cooked meat.
