My dog keeps eating cat food. Is it bad? How much is too much?

Hello! Cats have higher protein and fat requirements, which is why their food is so much tastier than dog food! It's not a good balanced diet for dogs, so I would recommend that Seibella eats at least 80% formulated dog kibble for her nutritional needs to be met. You may want to try a different brand of dog food, or keeping the cat food out of her reach so it is not such a temptation. I hope this helps!

Small amounts likely wouldn't be a problem but a lot could cause an upset stomach or a blockage. I would store the chicken feed where he can't get it and when you feed the chickens keep him out. Feed your cat up on a counter out of your dog's reach. You can also crate the dog while the cat eats. Cat food being eaten by a dog can predispose the dog to becoming overweight and may also cause GI upset.

It is best to let the dog eat only dog food and the nutritional contents and vitamins are greatly different based on their needs. You can try to feed your cat up high, a counter or laundry room, to keep the dog from reaching it or getting to it. If the puppy gets cat food every now and then, it will not cause any harm, but it should not be its sole source of nutrition

That should be fine! As long as Chloe likes her food, has no GI issues like diarrhea, good skin and ears and is at a healthy weight there is no problem with variety. I recommend an AAFCO tested (vs formulated - should be written on the bag) food, I hope this helps!

Oh Molly. What a naughty girl! The only problem we would anticipate with a dog eating an excessive number of treats and cat food would be gastrointestinal upset. If Molly develops diarrhea, you could consider feeding her a bland diet of 1/2 cooked white meat chicken (no skin or bones) and 1/2 cooked white rice until the diarrhea resolves. If Molly is lethargic, does not want to eat, vomits or has bloody diarrhea, I would recommend having your veterinarian examine her. Good luck! Hopefully Molly won't have any problems. I would recommend 315 calories total per day, which is about what you are giving her (~311). You can increase activity, cut back a bit on treats or change to a low calorie formula with in the brand you are currently feeding. I hope this helps!
