My cat keeps begging for mayonnaise. Is it safe for her to eat?

Excessive amounts of any fat (such as coconut oil) can cause diarrhea, but coconut oil is not a problem for cats otherwise. Hello, I'm sorry to hear that Luna got into the pan with onions. Generally, she would need to eat a few mouthfuls of pure onion to get a toxic amount. A few licks of oil in a pan with onion in it wouldn't cause problems, except maybe some GI distress from excess fat. If she did ingest a toxic amount of onions, it would cause anemia which results in weakness and lethargy. If you are concerned about the amount she ingested, call her veterinarian and schedule an appointment for a physical exam and bloodwork. I hope this helps. I can understand your concern. Typically there isn’t enough raw garlic to be of concern when used in a condiment and especially if a small bite was consumed. Bonnie will likely be fine. If you want to be absolutely sure you can take her in for some bloodwork to check her organs and make sure everything looks good. Otherwise, just monitor her for the next few days for any symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, or lack of appetite and get her seen right away by your vet if she becomes ill. A lick of margarine should result in nothing worse than minor stomach upset (vomiting or diarrhea). This can usually be managed at home with a short fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve.
