My cat has this dry looking bald spot on the side of his face where the whiskers are. I don't know when it formed there I only saw it today. He does go outside often and mingles with other cats so I assume it's possible he picked it up from them or it could be nothing.

It is common for kitties to have less hair in front of the ears. However, the bumps you describe may be a sign that Silas is scratching at the ear (due to an ear infection, allergies, or mites potentially). Or It could signal a skin infection for some other reason. I recommend taking Silas to your vet who can examine the inner and outer ear and help determine the cause and what treatment if any is needed.
