My cat drank dirty water, vomited, and is licking chops. Is she okay?

Cleaning solutions are usually irritating to the stomach and intestines, but don't tend to cause much internal toxicity besides that. If she is eating, drinking and acting normally, then I would not be too concerned. She may have diarrhea for a day or two also, but this is OK. If she continues to vomit for more than 24 hours, has diarrhea for more than three days, or is not eating, drinking and acting normally, then I recommend taking her to the vet. Otherwise, I think it will be safe for her to stay home under observation for the time-being. I hope that helps and all is well with Lily.

It is not uncommon to have one more vomiting episode after cerenia while it is still building in her system. The constant licking may be a sign of nausea. There is no way to know how serious anything is without those test, but it is a good a sign she drank a little. I would take her food and water away for now and let her stomach rest and empty the water she just drank. After 4 hours I would try a small amount of water and a little food to see if the nausea has passed and how she handles it. If she continues to vomit, then you may want to ask about Care credit or further options to get the test done. If she is not getting any worse those medicines will last for 24 hours so it is reasonable to see how she feels by tomorrow

Maple syrup isn't toxic to cats, but the sugar could upset Mirz's stomach. The butter could have caused the vomiting as well since cats are lactose intolerant. I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that helps. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If the floor looked dry I am sure she is fine. I do not think she needs to see a vet. If you want to rinse her mouth out well with water as a precaution and wipe her paws well with water to prevent any more possible ingestion that isn't wrong. If she becomes lethargic, drools, won't eat or in anyway appears abnormal then bring her to the Vet. But based on your description I think she will be fine. Maybe have a discussion with your roommate about this so it won't happen again. I hope this helps!

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Ingesting or licking off a small amount of shampoo shouldn't be too worrisome. The vomiting, diarrhea, and decreased appetite may have another medical cause such as an infection from a virus or bacteria or perhaps a parasite. I would recommend Nami see her veterinarian for an exam and evaluation soon. Your veterinarian may want to test Nami's stool or run blood work or x-rays to help determine a cause so she can get appropriately treated. Until you can get to her veterinarian, you feed her a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice to help settle her stomach. I hope this helps and thanks again for posting!

It could be that Lilly drank too much water and/or drank it too quickly, leading to her vomiting. If she isn't vomiting any further, I wouldn't be too concerned just yet but I would keep an eye on her. If she keeps vomiting water, starts vomiting food, stops eating, and/or becomes very lethargic, then I would be concerned and take her into the vet right away.

If Coco is nauseated from something, it is difficult to say for sure the cause just based on the symptoms. Coco may have a systemic disease or infection going on that needs antibiotic therapy. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Coco so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.
