My cat was bitten by dog, now throwing up white foam. Is it serious?

Cat fights can be dangerous because often times it can result in serious injuries and most of the time what you see on the outside is just the tip of the iceberg and there is more going on internally. I would encourage you to try perhaps to have him evaluated by another veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. He is likely going to need evaluation to see the extent of his injuries and to check for something that could explain his vomiting. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat him accordingly. Do not give her any more milk, it causes GI upset in dogs and wll make things worse. I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Certainly the cuts/scratches/wounds need to be considered infected and antibiotics or appropriate disinfection is required. The vomiting episode may be related to head trauma together with the twitching as well. Loss of appetite and vomiting can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. While the dental disease may be related to her not eating well, I do not expect that to be related to the vomiting. I recommend that you have Cowlee evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. If he has finally settled down call your Vet first thing and get an appointment. If he is coughing the "vomiting" you are witnessing could be a the end of the cough. Sometimes a dog can cough so hard they trigger their gag reflex and bring up bile or white foam. So if every vomit follows a cough, Cedar may actually be coughing and not vomiting. Causes of coughing are kennel cough, pneumonia, allergies, bronchitis, heart failure. He is 8 months old so I would assume kennel cough is the number one possibility. If he has been boarded lately, around other dogs, at doggy day care or the groomer that will make it more possible. Causes of true vomiting are: dietary indiscretion, foreign body, toxin, viral/bacterial infection, pancreatitis, etc. I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery for Cedar!

This should subside within 1-2 days. The vomiting could certainly be due to other reasons like gastroenteritis.
