My cat has diarrhea after birth, now other cats have it. Why?

As long as she continues to eat well, this should slowly resolve over the course of the next 3-4 days. Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. They probably got it from the mother. I recommend that you have them evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. When multiple cats within one household have diarrhea this is usually not a dietary problem but highly likely that the cause is a parasite problem. The way to get the diarrhea under control is to take a fecal sample to your veterinarian to be evaluated for parasites. They can prescribe an anti-diarrheal for the kittens with diarrhea that they perform exams on and get the appropriate dewormer for them based on the fecal test results. Best of luck.

Hello! You will want to take your new kitten into your veterinarian to determine what the cause of the diarrhea is so the appropriate treatment can be prescribed. It's possible. It could also be the kittens are a bit stressed out from going to a new home. If you changed their diet when you adopted them, that can also cause GI upset which can lead to vomiting and diarrhea. If possible, continuing to give them their original food (or slowly switching to new) and giving them a day or two to settle in may help. If the diarrhea or vomiting continue, or worsen, then seeking out a veterinary exam to make sure the giardia hasn't returned or there is another underlying cause is best.

It is concerning that Lola has diarrhea, and it could be that it is intestinal worms causing the continuing problems. She could have tapeworms, and those require praziquantel to kill. If the deworming medication she got didn't have it, that could explain the issues with her stool. I'd have her checked out by a vet in the morning. I hope this helps.

Your kitten probably has colitis, which is an inflammation in the colon. This can be caused by stress, diet or changes in diet, and/or intestinal parasites. I would guess that Zia probably has all of these issues going on. It is not too early to take her to the vet. In fact, I would recommend it. Severe diarrhea can lead to dehydration which can be very serious in a little kitten. Your vet will need to check a fecal sample and may prescribe some antibiotics and probiotics and a dewormed for your kitten. I hope this helps. Best of luck.
