My cat has a deep bite wound and is drooling. What should I do?

Ouch, poor Eddie! Unfortunately, it's impossible to fully assess this wound's severity from a picture alone. The wound itself looks fairly large and appears to be covered in a hair-crusted scab. The challenge likes in how deep the wound goes under the scab, and if it penetrates into the tooth roots, jaw, or salivary glands. To answer your question, yes, Eddie does need veterinary attention. Since he's afraid of people, it's likely that he will need to be sedated in order for your veterinarian to examine this wound. Your vet will need to determine the depth of the wound, and at a minimum, will need to clip the hair around the wound and clean it with an antiseptic cleanser. I fully expect that they'll prescribe an antibiotic or give a long-acting antibiotic injection, as it's likely that this wound is also infected. Try to get to the vet as soon as you can - preferably within the next day. Until your vet appointment, be sure to put an e-collar (cone) on Eddie to prevent him from scratching at this area, as that will make matters worse. Best of luck and I hope that he heals quickly!

When a cat gets into a fight, they often get bit, and bacteria from the other cat's mouth can cause an abscess at the bite site. Those are very painful to cats, and would cause them to be nauseous and lose their appetite. I would take Shammo into a vet today for an exam.

Broken tooth, mouth ulcers, electrocution (does she chew cords?) toxin, GI upset, foreign body, and more can all cause this - and all need some degree of medical attention. I would be most suspicious of a calicivirus infection causing these signs. Calicivirus is a vaccine preventable disease that is mostly seen with kittens. This virus will cause ulcers in the mouth, which will cause it to bleed a little. This disease is often self-limiting, but can cause severe ulcers in certain cases, so it will definitely be good for the vet to check them in the next day or two. It's likely not an emergency though, so they should be fine to wait until then. I hope that helps and all is well with the cats.

Ouch, poor Binx! I agree that it could be infected, and he's probably drooling more from the sore on the corner of his mouth. He could have injured himself causing the sore. I would have him seen by a vet for this sore because if it is infected, he will need antibiotics to treat it. I would take him into the vet today.

He needs to be seen by a veterinarian. He looks like he really doesn't feel well from the photo. The red spots on the tongue could be ulcerations (due to a toxin ingestion or kidney disease for example) or they could be cancer (very common in cats). This is not something you can fix at home. You've posted a few times, and I'm not sure what answer you are looking for, but the only one you are going to get is take Zakoota into a vet. That is your only option. You cannot give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. Leaving him without veterinary treatment in this case is cruel to him. Take him into a vet now.
