My cat has a drooling, crusty mouth sore with pus. Should I see a vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

Hello, my male cat (at least 1 year old) has got a sore on the corner of his mouth. It is looking a little crusty and is oozing with a little bit of what looks like pus. He also seems to be drooling or just more moisture on that side of the mouth. He is still eating. I only noticed this yesterday but not sure how long it could have been there. I haven't really notciced any behavioural change. Thank you

Ouch, poor Binx! I agree that it could be infected, and he's probably drooling more from the sore on the corner of his mouth. He could have injured himself causing the sore. I would have him seen by a vet for this sore because if it is infected, he will need antibiotics to treat it. I would take him into the vet today.
