My cat's urine is dark. Is dark pee a sign of dehydration or illness?

I recommend that you check and make sure that she is drinking enough water. Sometimes using several water bowls throughout the house is helpful. Another way to stimulate her to eat canned food which is high in water content. Good luck!

The longer he holds his urine the darker in color and stronger odor it can have. Also if he dehydrated it has potential to make the urine a little darker. Since he has issues with a litter box, I would have his urine checked for a UTI or crystals to see if that is complicating the situation and causing some of these problems. You can also add canned food to make sure he is getting plenty of fluids

I recommend that you have Hope evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further diagnostics would include abdominal imaging and lab work. Tiger may have a urinary tract infection or other issue causing dehydration and darker colored urine. I'd recommend having her examined by a veterinarian and also having a urine sample checked out. If necessary she can be given fluids as an injection to rehydrate her and be prescribed antibiotics to treat any infection that may be present. You can try offering her an all canned food diet to try to maintain her hydration. However, I do think she should be examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. That urine looks very very concentrated, which is suggestive that Marshall is dehydrated. This coincides with him not drinking. I would recommend getting him to a vet if you can, otherwise try to increase his water intake. Try getting him canned food, and adding water to the food, or providing him with fresh water, or running water (some cats like this). When you can I would get him to a vet, as I am concerned there is something serious going on inside him. Best of luck with Marshall, I hope he feels better soon!

When urin turns a darker yellow it is usually more concentrated. It is likely that your kittie did not drink as much as usual or ate more dry food than usual. If Spazzee does not show any discomfort in urinating or otherwise appears to be sick or off, then this is nothing to worry about.

I would recommend to get Belle's urine checked. Dehydration will make it darker but so will blood in the urine. Best to be safe. Hopefully its nothing! Please post again if you have any further questions!
