Why is my cat's urine dark orange? Is it a UTI or serious problem?

My cat's urine is dark orange. Is it most likely a uti or probably something more serious?

Cats urine is normally very concentrated, so a dark orange color could be OK.

With a UTI, they tend to urinate more frequently, urinate outside the box and sometimes strain to urinate. If you see him doing this, then he needs to see the vet.

If anything else is concerning, then it's best to bring him to the vet and they can easily test the urine and examine Mookie for any other problems.

Any change in elimination behavior, especially when coupled with a change n odor and color of the urine, could indicate a urinary tract infection. I recommend getting Link seen by your vet as soon as possible for an exam and urinalysis. Dark orange could mean the urine is highly concentrated or there could be blood present.

Drinking excessively can have various causes, diabetes, kidney failure, slty food, etc. The only way to diagnose kidney failure is via a blood test. Dark reddish orange urine can be caused by a urinary tract infection, bladder stones or other irritants damaging the lining of the bladder or a kidney infection. I suggest you take Buddy to a veterinarian for an exam and a blood test. That should find the reason for the problem.

Poor kitty. Cats can have blood in their urine as a result of stress, bladder stones or even an underlying urinary tract infection. As long as he is urinating readily with no excessive straining, vocalization, or lethargy, he shouldn't be in any immediate danger. I would recommend taking him in to your vet within the next day or two to have a urinalysis done so that he can ge properly diagnosed and treated. Until then, continue to monitor him for any of the symptoms that I mentioned above, which would warrant an emergency visit to the vet. Otherwise, a regular vet visit is appropriate. My cat has very dark urine and is licking a brown liquid. What's wrong?

Tiger may have a urinary tract infection or other issue causing dehydration and darker colored urine. I'd recommend having her examined by a veterinarian and also having a urine sample checked out. If necessary she can be given fluids as an injection to rehydrate her and be prescribed antibiotics to treat any infection that may be present. You can try offering her an all canned food diet to try to maintain her hydration. However, I do think she should be examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible.
