My cat has dark eye discharge after URI treatment. Is it normal?

This is generally a good sign that the infection/inflammation is resolving. The thick discharge indicates that there is an increase in mucous secretion, which is often seen with infections. The clear discharge is essentially tears and is increased during times of mild/moderate irritation. Given that Layla has uveitis and glaucoma, it's expected that there will be some irritation before it completely resolves. As long as the eye is not budging excessively, or more red appearing, then this is not an emergency and you are OK to wait until you can contact your vet tomorrow. If the eye does appear more red or misshapen, then it would be good to take her to the emergency vet for an evaluation. If Percy begins to hold his eyes closed, the eye discharge becomes yellow/green/runny, sneezing, coughing, or less interest in food- these would all be signs of a respiratory infection that may require treatment and an exam from your vet. Brown discharge from the eye can indicate that the infection is improving. Yellow or green means that the infection is still present. As long as Cinnamon's actual eye looks better and she doesn't seem overly bothered by it, it is likely healing well. You may be seeing dried tears which will sometimes appear dark in color especially in a white cat. If PK is not squinting, and you are not seeing red eyes or excessive discharge what you are seeing is likely normal. However, in some cases eye discharge can be a sign of an upper respiratory infection. It's hard to say for sure if the debris you are seeing in PK is normal without doing an examination on him. If you can take a picture and submit it that may also be helpful. If PK develops any signs of respiratory illness (continued eye discharge, sneezing, lethargy, or changes in appetite) then he should be examined by a veterinarian. IT is not uncommon fr some nasal discharge or blood - the tear ducts naturally drain down through the back of the nose/throat. If he is otherwise well I would continue to monitor - a vet check is recommended if the discharge is persistent, thick/coloured or any weight loss or fever develops
