Is yellow discharge normal after my cat's eye removal surgery?

Dewey is a very cute little cat! It sounds like you are doing everything right, monitoring him carefully for any signs of soreness, discharge that looks like pus, or swelling. As long as he continues to eat, drink, pee and poop normally, and there is no sign of pus or any significant increase in the blood, I would not be too worried. A dark colored discharge is completely normal and is just what accumulates near the corner of the eye. It consists of the dried discharge left from the tear film that gets deposited onto the eye and flows across the eye. Unless you notice redness and a green or yellowish discharge I wouldn't worry. A clear discharge with a lot of squinting and redness would be something to have your vet evaluate right away. Sounds like this is completely normal and is found in both normal cats and dogs. Good job treating the conjunctivitis, sounds like it has resolved.

Sneezing and clear eye discharge can indicate the beginnings of something, or may be allergy related. Keeping the eyes and nose clear with a clean washcloth may help. If the discharge changes to yellow or green, Pinta becomes congested, or she becomes feverish, lethargic, or stops eating, those are all signs of something more serious such as an upper respiratory infection that requires veterinary care.
