Why is my cat coughing after switching to wet food for urinary health?

It would be honestly hard to say without an exam. Some possible causes could be a food-based one (IE an allergy to an ingredient in the wet food that is causing a reaction after eating it) or a functional one such as a problem with the esophagus or digestive tract's ability to move the food through the body (something very common in cats). An exam would be a good idea to help rule out these causes through either some testing such as X-rays, or through a food trial to see if an ingredient can be ruled out. Until you can get to your vet, offering smaller meals more frequently may help with keeping food down and minimizing discomfort after eating.

A canned diet is perfectly fine to feed Cameo. If she stops eating completely for more than 2 days, she should be physically examined by your veterinarian. The cough can have multiple causes including allergies, infection (bacterial, fungal or viral), parasites, asthma or even heart disease. Ideally, she should be seen by your veterinarian to diagnose the underlying cause. If this is not possible and she is behaving normally otherwise, then monitor for a worsening cough, lethargy, difficulty breathing or exercise intolerance. These are symptoms that will need to be addressed by your veterinarian.

Random coughing in a cat can be caused by multiple things considering your history here. It can be an allergic bronchitis, underlying heart disease, asthma or even a parasite if we go outside. There isn't really much you can do over the counter for cats with a cough unfortunately. Also we want to know what the cause is so that we can treat the underlying problem. You can ask your vet if they can recommend an antihistamine to try over the counter first to see if there is any improvement, and then monitor the next few days to weeks, since the cough isn't severe right now and seems to be getting better. I would also try to get in the habit of sticking with the same food for kitty. Switching foods often can cause stomach upset in pets that are particularly sensitive. There are a huge number of reasons that a cat will vomit. Since it sounds like Luna is mostly vomiting undigested food, she may simply be eating the dry food too quickly, so canned food is a great idea to try. Canned food is actually more biologically appropriate and better for a cat's health than dry food, so feeding Luna only canned food is a great idea. That is a good food. Often cats eat too fast and vomit up semi digested food. I recommend switching to C/D canned or giving both canned and dry. Often with canned food there will be less vomiting and the food will still be effective to prevent crystals. It may be that George is eating too quickly. You could try getting a treat toy and putting his food in there so that he only gets a few kibbles out at a time. However, it could be something more serious. You may want to try to get a video of this behavior, and then have George examined by a vet. He could have a respiratory infection, trouble breathing due to heart or lung disease, a stricture in his esophagus, a nasopharyngeal polyp, or something else that is making it hard for him to eat or swallow.

Coughing after eating is not normal and can have several medical causes such as an upper respiratory infection, feline asthma or bronchitis, or a heart condition. If he has swollen lymph nodes, there may be something infectious or inflammatory going on.
