My cat suddenly chews everything. Is he bored or has a deficiency?

The first thing you need to do is have him examined by your vet to check for any underlying medical conditions (like a dental problem) before you just assume the problem is behavioral. He could have a bad tooth or even a malocclusion. I am suspicious of a dental issue because of the drooling you described. If no medical condition is found then I suggest you do some Feliway and some environmental enrichment as he could be stressed and/or bored. This could be a normal behavior for Cleo. You can start disciplining her for this behavior. If you catch her in the act you can spray her with a little water bottle and tell her “no”. Also if she has anything particular she wants to chew up, I would try to keep those objects out of site. If you worry about her being stressed, you can try to add feliway didfusers throughout the house. Feliway is a cat pheromone that helps to calm cats but doesn’t work on everyone. Also, make sure she has plenty of cat toys to play with and make sure she is getting enough attention. Sometimes they do this if they are bored. Pets can certainly exhibit some odd behaviors. If you are feeding a commercial diet that is AAFCO Certified, it is unlikely he is suffering any deficiencies. It's hard to say what may be causing Jazz to chew on wires. Even though he is missing his teeth since you've adopted him he could still have retained tooth roots below the gum line causing oral pain. The only way to check for retained roots is to do dental X-rays. It is also possible that this is just a play behavior for Jazz. It may be very difficult to stop him from wanting to chew on wires if this is the "toy" he has decided he enjoys. Instead you may have to cover the wires or make them inaccessible to Jazz to keep him safe. It sounds like you are doing a good job at setting aside time for Jazz to have attention. Searching for a toy that doesn't scare him may also help. Something like an Undercover Mouse toy may be worth trying. I'd suggest also using a Feliway diffuser to decrease some of Jazz's fear.
