My cat is straining to pee, has bloody urine, and mucus in poop. Help!

Have her seen by your veterinarian. You can request conservative treatment and your veterinarian may prescribe a broad spectrum antibiotic for a presumed urinary tract infection without performing recommended diagnostics (urine culture, urinalysis, abdominal xrays, blood work). It may help, however the risk is that the bloody urine may not be caused by "simple" infection. Other possibilities are inflammation, tumor or stones. If Luna should become completely obstructed, this will turn into an emergency and potentially life threatening condition.

The only thing you can do is bring Billie Jo to a veterinarian as soon as possible. I would recommend seeing if you can find another veterinarian open but if that is your only option then once they are open go in. Blood in the urine can be due to a few different problems. If it is red-colored urine and Lily has been urinating more frequently lately, then it is most likely a bladder infection/inflammation, but could also be a kidney infection. If it appears like fresh blood at the end of the urine stream, then this could indicate a problem with the vagina, cervix, or could be coming from the rectum. Either way, it's best that you take Lily to a veterinarian for treatment soon. If she is going to the litter box and nothing is coming out within the last 24 hours, then this is an emergency and I recommend you take her to the vet immediately. They will be able to locate where the problem is and provide the most appropriate treatment. Either way, Lily will need a professional to diagnose this problem and to provide the most effective treatment. Without good treatment, she can have life-threatening complications. It is usually related to bacterial infection of the bladder but it may be due to bladder crystals or stress. Please, take her to your local vets for an appointment, as most likely she will need a course of antibiotics to get better.

Poor Panbeh! It sounds like he has a bad urinary tract infection. This is very painful-like peeing razor blades. He could also have bladder stones or a urethral blockage. I recommend getting him to a vet ASAP to check his urine and get a radiograph of his bladder for stones. They can then start him on antibiotics and pain medications. Good luck and kisses to Panbeh!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor PP! No, Petco/VetCo is not a full service vet, the clinics only do vaccinations and wellness services NOT sick appointments. PP needs to see a Vet today. Causes of bloody urine are: stress bladder inflammation (cystitis), urinary tract infection, crystals in the urine or bladder stones. Prevent her from urination by keeping her in her carrier or in a room with out a litter box for a few hours before the appointment so the Vet can collect a urine sample to test. If she has a urinary tract infection she will be put on antibiotics. I wish you the best!

Poor Bear! He definitely needs to see a veterinarian right away as this can be a sign of serious bladder issues like cystitis, lower urinary tract disease, bladder stones, or urinary blockage. A urinary blockage is a life threatening emergency so Bear needs to see a veterinarian immediately for treatment. A veterinarian can examine Bear to see if he has a blockage and if necessary pass a urinary catheter and give Bear fluids.
