Bloody brown liquid from my cat. Is it pee or poop? Vet help?

Small specks of red blood during a bout of diarrhea is not unusual as the delicate lining of the back passage can become damaged from straining. As long as he is bright and alert, eating and drinking it would be ok to leave him but if any lethargy, weakness or vomiting occurs he should be seen urgently by your vet. Be sure he is up to date with deworming medication as intestinal worms are a common cause of diarrhea in young kittens

In the meantime, you can purchase wormer for kittens at Petco. The package will have very good directions on how to use the wormer. Take care.

It is not uncommon for kittens to have intestinal parasites. This can cause inflammation and soft stool. Monitor the litter box and submit a stool sample to your vet if Lucy has soft stool or is straining to defecate. She may need to be dewormed. This should be repeated in 3-4 weeks to confirm clearance of any intestinal parasites.

Due to the blood and Fluffy being so small, I recommend you have her seen by a Vet today before the weekend. I recommend bringing a stool sample (if she passed actual feces). Possible causes are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, food allergy or intolerance. For a kitten so small I worry about dehydration and secondary infections. It's possible there could be a parasite affecting both of them that started with the kitten, or something they got in to. I recommend they both be seen by your veterinarian. Bring a fecal sample with you to be checked for parasites.

Casper needs to be examined by the veterinarian. Bloody stool can be present for many reasons including parasites, bacterial over growth, improper diet, viral infection or poisoning. Bring in a fresh sample of the feces for parasite testing. The veterinarian may recommend an antibiotic, probiotic and a bland diet.
