My cat is blind, wobbly, and has high blood pressure. What to do?

This could be a number of things including diabetes, severe arthritis, a brain tumor, infection, inner ear infection, and others. Regardless, it is clear she is not doing well. She needs a thorough visit with a vet to figure out what’s wrong and how to make it better. It is also completely reasonable and possibly the best choice to humanely euthanize her if we can’t get her comfortable. Best luck in whatever you decide.

Disorientation, vision and weight loss can all be signs of severe kidney disease and blood pressure or diabetes and i recommend an urgent check up and blood panel to investigate underlying causes. It is hard to know if her vision was affected to cause her to hit her head, or the other way around?

This does not sound normal and I recommend to have her examined today. A blind cat generally does not have trouble walking. Instead they tend to walk slowly and cautiously but they are not unbalanced. A sudden onset of neurological signs is always concerning and could indicate poisoning, a stroke from a blood clot or even potentially infectious diseases which can infect humans like Toxoplasmosis. I recommend to play it safe and have Kiki examined today. Especially with a concern for infectious disease for humans. I hope this helps.

I would guess that Ebony may have had retinal detachment secondary to high blood pressure. Kidney disease can cause increased blood pressure. If her retinas partially reattached she may have regained some vision.

Yes, please have her reevaluated. The blindness likely is caused by high blood pressure and the high blood pressure is likely caused by the kidney disease. Your cat will need to be evaluated and then put on blood pressure medication. Subcutaneous fluid giving should not stress her, if it is done right. You may want to have your vet show you again, how it is done. Please take Kitkat for a recheck today.

This sounds like he may have hurt himself, when he banged his face. It could also be that he has high blood pressure and that often makes cats temporarily blind. The faster the blood pressure is treated the more likely your kitty will regain his eyesight. Please take him to a veterinarian preferably right away, as either of these conditions (injury or high blood pressure) are signs of a serious health problem. He is purring because he is worried and afraid, and cats not only purr when they are happy, but also to appease other cats and people ("Please don;t hurt me, I am not going to hurt you).
