Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | unspayed | 8 months and 2 days old | 5 lbs

My 8 month old cat gave birth to just one I believe premature kitten around 2:30pm or 3:00pm. Is that normal? She dropping spots of blood all day but it lightened during the night what does this mean?

Blood is not normally seen in the birthing process and usually indicates that there is a complication. While it's possible that she only has one kitten, it's also possible that she has more inside. I recommend taking her to the vet for an evaluation as soon as possible. They can keep things from getting worse and check for any other kittens.

I hope that helps and all is well with Baby.
