My cat has a black dangling growth on his lip. Is it serious?

This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. A photo may be helpful for us to better advise you. If it doesn't seem to be bothering him and is just slightly raised, its reasonable to just keep an eye on it and ask your vet next time you are in for an annual exam. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If the bumps are symmetrical and look the same in each side they are likely the normal scent gland that is present in the lower lip. The black specks might be dried saliva. You can always post a picture. I hope this helps!
