Why is my cat's bite wound area hard and scabby after treatment?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 years and 8 months old

Cat had abscess on side of head from bite wound. Vet lanced it n removed pus, antibiotic injection given n hibi scrub given to clean area. The skin had become hard n scabby looking. Is this normal n can I soften area somehow

This is quite normal and in rare cases the area of hardened skin may indeed fall off and the skin heal from underneath. Applying ointments to cats is rarely recommended as they will groom and swallow much of it. If it is causing pain you should contact your vet for a recheck, often removing the damaged painful area is best
