There are mesh panels which can be fitted to escape - you would need to monitor closely at the start to ensure your cats do not attack and create holes in them if very persistent! There are also child proof restrictors which limit the window opening to only an inch or so to allow for ventilation - ensure they are not open enough for a cats head to get stuck however. If possible, keeping the cat out of the room with opened windows would also ensure they could not fall

You can consider putting a harness and leash on her and only allowing her on the balcony when you are able to be with her and hold the leash. It you are allowed to, you could install a safety fence or guard on the balcony. I would caution you to allow this to continue. I wish you and Moca the best!

A fall always has the possibility of causing injury, but cats are agile. Ideally, he should be indoors, at least when you aren't home, so that if he does get hurt you'll be there to get him to vet right away. HI there. I would recommend tying up any curtains, dangling cords from blinds, etc. that he may be using to climb on. You may also putting a cat tree, cat condo, or window seat for cats beside the window so that he has something appropriate to climb on in this area.

While it can be difficult sometimes to turn an indoor/outdoor cat to one who stays strictly indoors, I think that Ray is young enough that you should give it a try if you're concerned about his safety. You could look into putting up an enclosure (sometimes called a 'catio') so he can still spend some time outdoors.

Keeping her leashed would not be recommended. Should an aggressive cat or dog happen upon your cat, she would not be able to escape. An enclosed or screened porch or sunroom would be the best and safest option if you don't want her wandering.

There is no fail safe way to make sure he will be completely safe as accidents can always happen, but personally I believe cats should be able to go out as it allows them to exhibit natural behaviour. Because he is an older neutered cat he is unlikely to stray too far, but obviously he hasnt had the experience of outdoors since he was young. I would start by taking him out on a harness, let him get used to your garden and outdoor sounds such as engines etc. When you come to let him off for the first time don't feed him before so he has a good reason to come home if he does venture off. Make sure he is microchipped and has an id on his collar just in case. To an extent you will just have to leave him to it, but he should be fine.
